Samyukt Kisan Morcha: It is well known that there has been a massive movement on the borders of Delhi for almost three months against the new agricultural laws introduced by the Central Government. It is learned that Delhi police have arrested several farmers in connection with various incidents in this regard. However, the US Kisan Morcha has appealed to President Ram Nath Kovind to immediately release the arrested farmers and drop the false charges against them. Members of the US Kisan Morcha on Wednesday wrote a letter to President Ramnath Kovind to this effect. They demanded the unconditional release of innocent farmers who were arrested and sent to jail during the peasant movement. The letter explained that over the past three months there has been concern across the country that the MSP should be legalized, against the new agricultural laws. The protest will continue under the auspices of the US Kisan Morcha on the Delhi border. Hundreds of farmers and supporters of the movement have been arrested so far in the movement, the letter said. The US Kisan Morcha has asked the President to dismiss the cases against them and release them immediately and unconditionally.
On Wednesday, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that if the farmers’ unions agreed to the central government’s proposal to suspend agricultural laws for a year and a half, they would be ready to hold talks again. He said that they would discuss all issues related to agriculture with the farmers’ associations and commented that their government’s goal was to double the income of farmers.
