In Maharashtra, Yavatmal, Amravati and Akola in the Vidarbha region are likely to be locked down again at any moment, CM Uddhav Thackeray has said. He issued the warning in the wake of a sharp rise in Kovid 19 cases in the state. The state recorded 4,787 new cases of corona virus in a single day on Wednesday. This is the first time this year that so many cases have been registered on a single day. CM Uddhav and his deputy Ajit Pawar held an emergency meeting on Thursday to review the corona virus situation in the state. Collectors and other officials of the three cities were also summoned to the meeting. Uddhav recently warned that if people do not strictly follow the Kovid rules, they may face a lock-down situation again. He reminded that such strict sanctions have been imposed again in many parts of the world.
Earlier this month, the state government decided to extend travel restrictions on people coming from Kerala. Kovid suggested that those coming into Maharashtra must bring negative reports. Similar travel rules have been in force in Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa and Gujarat since November 23 last year.
