The muddled romantic comedy Krishna Vrinda Vihari, directed by Anish Krishna, is an attempt to differentiate itself from other films of its genre but ultimately fails to do so because it is so… basic.
The tone of the movie veers between comedic, dramatic, and emotional moments, and the storytelling is so choppy that you could find yourself wondering why a certain line of conversation is making you laugh or why a fight is breaking out in the midst of a dramatic scene.
However, it is not the only problem with the movie; the fact that it has a lot of similarities to Ante Sundaraniki is also difficult to ignore.
Krishna Vrinda Vihari Story Line
Krishna (Naga Shaurya), who has lofty goals for his life, has travelled all the way to Hyderabad. It wasn’t about landing his ideal profession or amassing a fortune; it was about finding the woman he could call his own.
He finds that girl in Vrinda, his employer, who is played by Shirley Setia and is the total antithesis of him and his family.
You know, Krishna is originally from a little town in West Godavari, and his family is the sort that still practises madi acharam. Additionally, Krishna has a peculiar accent that filmmakers mistake for the way Brahmins speak because of the way he speaks.
His family manages to come out as simply irritating rather than as someone whose experiences can be related to in any way.
Amritavalli (Radhika), the powerful matriarch of his family, is referred to in one of the scenes as the Sivagami of her town because whatever that she says is accepted without question.
Regarding Vrinda’s Punjabi family, we don’t focus too much attention on them, with the exception of the scene in which Amritavalli criticises them for imbibing alcohol while celebrating a pleasant occasion. But we digress.
It is quite challenging to give the impression that one is interested in the events that take place in the first half of the movie due to the archaic and unnatural progression of the love story that involves Krishna and Vrinda.
It’s not for a lack of effort however, since Anish seems to follow familiar rhythms while still doing just enough to guarantee that the scenes don’t look completely identical to what you’ve seen before.
It looks as if a whole plot line revolving around the office cleaning crew and a misunderstanding is merely a way to buy more time.
