Mekapati Goutham Reddy, IT minister, dies of a heart attack

The Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology and Industries Mekapati Gautham Reddy passed away after suffering a heart attack on Monday morning.

He was rushed to the Apollo hospital after he suffered a heart attack and doctors at the hospital declared him dead. Mekapati Gautham Reddy had returned from Dubai after attending the Dubai Expo 2022 on 20th February.

MEKAPATI GOUTHAM REDY, represents Atmakur constituency in Nellore district for the 2nd time in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He was elected twice from Atmakur assembly constituency.

Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, a rural legislator from Nellore, said, “Mekapati Goutham Reddy had a pleasing personality with affable manners. He never criticized his opponents or the opposition parties. It is an irreparable loss.”.

He is the son of Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, the former MP of Nellore and 5-time member of the legislature for Nellore district.

Born on November 2, 1971, Gautham Reddy completed his Masters in Apparels and Textiles at the University of Manchester in England in 1997 and returned to Andhra Pradesh to join politics.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members of Mekapati Goutham Reddy.
