Apart from Soorarai Pottru and Ka Pae Ranasingham, eleven other Kollywood films are being screened at the 18th Chennai International Film Festival.

During the time of lockdown to contain the pandemic situation, theatres were shut down, due to which many films were released directly on the OTT platforms. Now, in an exciting news for movie-buffs, some of these films including Suriya and Aparna Balamurali’s Soorarai Pottru, Vijay Sethupathi and Aishwarya Rajessh’s Ka Pae Ranasingham and Jyothika’s Ponmagal Vandhal will be screened at the 18th Chennai International Film Festival. A total of 13 Tamil movies will be screened during the festival.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, Soorarai Pottru has also joined the Oscars race for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score, among other categories. The film had won accolades from critics across the country. It had a direct release on Amazon Prime on November 12, 2020 ahead of the Diwali festival. 

Here’s the list of all Tamil films that will be screened:

5. Mazhaiyil Nanaigiren

7. Godfather

8. The Mosquito Philosophy

9. Chiyangal

12. Ka Pae Ranasingam

13. Kanni Maadam

A total of 91 films will be screened during the festival. Seven Oscar winning films namely Apples, Quo vadis, Aida?, Listen, The Sleepwalkers, Agnes Joy, Running Against the Wind, Running to the Sky will also be screened during the festival. A Tulu language film Pingara and an Oriya language film Kalira Atita will be the other regional films to get screened during the festival.
