The FIR filed in the case of murder of Telangana’s lawyer couple states that the construction of a temple and an illegal house by a TRS leader was the motive behind the murder.
Gattu Vaman Rao and Nagamani, practicing lawyers at the Telangana High Court were killed on Wednesday.
Construction of Peddamma temple and illegal house construction by accused and TRS leader Kunta Srinu in Gunjapadugu village was the motive behind the murder of Telangana’s lawyer couple, the FIR has said.
As per the FIR filed by the police, the first accused Veldi Vasantha Rao conspired with the second accused Kunta Srinivas and Akkapaka Kumar to kill Gattu Vaman Rao and Nagamani. The victims were practising lawyers at Telangana High Court.
“On February 17 when the victims were going to Hyderabad in their car from Manthani Court, they were stopped by the accused wrongfully at the outskirts of Kalvacherla village. The victims were attacked with hunting knives ( Vetakodavallu) and their body parts were chopped. While shifting them to Peddapalli Hospital, they both died with severe bleeding injuries,” said the FIR.
As per Y Nagi Reddy, Zone IG, K Srinivas (Srinu) assassinated Vaman Rao over the temple dispute and past differences. “His henchmen killed Vaman Rao. Vaman Rao’s driver also confirmed that while dying and during attack, Vaman Rao had only named Srinu.”
Earlier today, the police arrested four people including the three accused named in the FIR. The accused were arrested from Maharashtra border.

Meanwhile, the TRS has suspended its Manthani mandal president Kunta Srinivas from the party who is one of the suspects in the murder of advocate couple, TRS General Secretary M. Srinivas Reddy said.
The Telangana High Court on its own took cognisance of the killing of a lawyer couple in Peddapalli district of the state earlier today and directed the government to properly and expeditiously conduct investigation into the matter.
