The ticket prices issue in Andhra Pradesh has been troubling the Telugu film industry for a long time now. Tollywood bigwigs have been trying to enter the good books of YS Jagan and persuade him to permit reasonable pricing, but there was very little progress.
A committee was formed to analyze the situation and that has been about it. Now, in an encouraging development, the ticket prices issue is close to being resolved in AP. But there is one catch.
The government is willing to permit Rs 150, 100, 50 price slab at cinema halls. But the issue is that the ticket rates are capped at Rs 150 in multiplexes as well, which is not feasible.
It is hard to register any distributor shares if multiplexes sell tickets for Rs 150. Tollywood is in a desperate position now and they have to take anything that comes their way.
However, talks are underway to negotiate flexible pricing at multiplexes and this will be the key aspect for forthcoming biggies. If the controversial ticket prices cap saga comes to an end and government permits reasonable pricing,
it could come as a big blessing to forthcoming biggies like RRR, Radhe Shyam, and others.
